Welcome to My Personal Fundraising Page for Teddy Bear Fun Run!
UPDATE (May 17th):
The walk/run day itself has come and gone, but online donations are still being accepted (until May 31st)!
I started off fundraising for this event with a $256 goal.. a random number based on a visual 'tracker' I was using (a picture of the Stollery Bear in a puzzle.. of 256 pieces), hoping to get the minimum $200 suggested. Well $256 was about 4 goals ago!
As of today, online donations total $830.. cash donations turned in on walk day totalled $125.. making my current grand total: $955!!! And still time to go!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! And THANK YOU AGAIN for helping me help programs I wholeheartedly believe in (pet therapy, music therapy etc)

Hi and thanks for snooping (/donating) :)
Why am I fundraising for the Stollery Children's Hospital through the Teddy Bear Fun Run? Lets see...
*Years ago, I was part of the Stollery work family.. I met numerous amazing co workers, families and absolutely fantastic kids who will never leave my heart. While I no longer work there, I have remained a part of the millions of "unfortunately fortunate" people who have needed the Stollery in some way since and before then.
* My Sprite, Freya. She was 4 when she lost her battle with Aplastic Anemia and one of the times I was unfortunately fortunate that the Stollery exists.
*My niece, Dillynia. Febrile seizures.
*My cousin, Chris. Necrotizing Fasciitis (the scary fancy way of saying "flesh eating bacteria/disease").
*My cousin, Lexie. Preemie.
* My secondary niece, Ayva. Ok, "secondary niece" seems kinda not a word, but it is what she was. Ayva was not my blood niece, but my husband's brother's wife's niece (my sister-in-laws niece).. an amazing young woman I watched grow up. I met my husband in 2003, which is also when I met my super extended family (his family and their families.. and their families).. including the in-laws of the in-laws.
Ayva was 17 in November 2018 when she was hit by a car walking to a friend's house one afternoon. I walked into the Stollery PICU as a family member that day, but was still remembered by some as a colleague and friend. The Stollery couldn't save Ayva then, but they made it so most of us could say good-bye.
So again, why am I raising money for this cause?
Simply, just because I want it to be there, in whatever way you may need it, if and when you join the "unfortunately fortunates" like myself and many others.
